Blueprint
The Frederick Alliance for Youth is committed to moving forward quickly but methodically to ensure that the needs of the community are met. In order to meet our goal of opening the doors of a new facility in 5 years, we have developed several strategic directions.
First, we have to make sure we are being responsive to the needs of the community. We conducted focus groups over the course of three months to gather input from the community and are continuing to log new information. Please feel free to review the summaries of the needs and suggestions that came out of those focus groups. Download PDF
In order to raise community awareness and garner community support, we have been presenting to local community leaders and making information available through the media, our newsletter, and our website. We will need substantial community support to ensure we secure an appropriate site and additional funds to make the youth center a reality.
We are currently visiting existing programs to learn from their experiences with building a facility and working with community partners. This will help us to develop a Master Program Model to share with the community and our partners. The Master Program Model, scheduled for completion in 2009, will be the key to designing the building to ensure it is suitable for what we are planning to accomplish with our partners. Speaking of partners, we are always looking for additional partnerships with agencies that share our passion for youth, our vision for a stronger community, and a track record of creating positive outcomes so our list of partners keeps growing!
Once we have secured a site and developed a master program model, we will begin working with an architect to design a functional building that will serve the community well. The building design will need to be useful and flexible to ensure we can continue to meet the changing needs of the community.
With a building design in hand, we will secure additional funding through grants, foundations, and private donations while we work through the approval and permitting process. The Frederick Alliance for Youth will break ground only when there is sufficient funding to complete the project. It is our hope to break ground in 2012 and open the new facility in 2013.
